Short Corner Cafe
The Short Corner Cafe is run on a voluntary basis. The cafe provides refreshments to players and parents on Saturday mornings throughout the Junior and Hookin2Hockey season. It takes away compulsory fundraising through other avenues and is a great way o make new friendships while helping the club to earn additional funds towards supporting the club and its members.
The cafe requires a minimum number of 4 helpers on the busy weeks and 3 on the quieter ones. 1 of these volunteers needs to cook the sausages for the morning. There is a roster for all teams to cover these mornings with parents being rostered on for half an hour when their child is at Charles Riley Reserve for their game.
Volunteers from the 9’s supply cupcakes or muffins each week. These are donated and the children (and adults) love to indulge in these each week.
The cafe supplies barista style coffee, cold drinks, hot food etc. so don’t forget to support the club and come on down to enjoy some yummy food and drinks.
Our bar is open on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5pm and on Saturdays from 3pm during the hockey season. We stock beer, wine, pre-mixed spirits and soft drinks at affordable prices and all members, parents and supporters are welcome to come along and socialise at the club.
New Strategy for Player Development
The club Motto “Raiders for Life” is now even more than a catchcry after the Board of the North Coast Raiders Hockey Club recently adopted a range of initatives and strategies to encourage player development and retention within the club. The initiatives are essentially the formalisation of a range of existing practices that have been combined with a series of ideas and suggestions that came out of a development workshop forum held last season. These strategies are designed to encourage players to stay with the club throughout their playing career by opening up as many playing development opportunities as possible (and reasonable) within the club for ALL players at ALL levels of the game. The Board have appointed the inaugural Player Development Coordinator who has the role of coordinating the implemention of these initiatives across all the levels of the club.
